As the Holidays approach, tis the season for holiday decor and to be awed by Holiday lights.  

Although Maryland is a large state and has many fabulous light displays in every city, these 5 locations are sure to put you in the spirit of the season!

Miracle on 34th Street

Each year, the 700 block of 34th Street in Hampden lights up with holiday decorations, one-of-a-kind scultpures, and more lgihts than you could imagine. 

In 1947, the tradition was started by a couple, Bob Hosier and Darlene Hughes, who both had a passion for decorating their homes during the Christmas season.  Over time, the decorations increased and attracted more attention and visitors, thus leading to a "Must-See" attraction during the Holiday Season.  Numerous visitors are drawn to Miracle on 34th Street from the end of November throughout all of December!

Symphony of Lights at Merriweather

Be amazed during a drive in your warm car through the Howard County General Hospital Symphony of Lights.  This time-honored holiday tradition is family-oriented offering spectacular dazzling light displays including a 100 larger-than-life animated and stationary holiday light creations, made up of more than 300,000 bulbs.   Also enjoy a laser ligth show and a 3-D holiday video projected ona  50 foot wall.  Tha Pavillion features an ice skating rink and concessions with holiday themed food.

Lights on the Bay

This year, Lights on the Bay is sponsored by SPCA of Anne Arundel County.  The Lights on the Bay holiday light show is opened to the public on beginning on Saturday, November 17, 2018 and run through January 1, 2019.  The light display is held at Sandy Point State Park.  The two-mile scenic drive coasts along the Chesapeake Bay with approximately 70 animated and stationary displays.

Lights on the Bay has something for everyone in the family, including a scavenger hunt for the children and an appearance of Santa on Thanksgiving Day! 

DC Temple Festival of Lights, Kensington

This Winterwonder Land features more than 450,000 sparkling Christmas lights.  Each night, enjoy live music from different local musical groups in a state-of-the-art theater. The events are free and visitors are welcomed to explore the Mormon Temple grounds.  The lighting event welcomes more than 200,000 visitors and again, no tickets are required as this is a free event!

5. Winterfest of Lights, Ocean City

Ocean City, Maryland features, yearly, the Winterfest of Lights!  This event features more than one million holiday lights and hundreds of animated light displays throughout Northside Park.  During your visit, enjoy hot cocoa, grab a photo with Santa, and ride the train over a mile to view this exceptional lighting exhibit! 

The Town of Ocean City will be hosting a New Year's Eve Fireworks Show at Northside Park to celebrate the beginning of 2019 and the 26th Annual Winterfest of Lights. The fireworks display, which will begin promptly at midnight, will be accompanied by live entertainment, warm hot chocolate, and the opportunity to ride through the
